Del.icio.us has become Delicious !
Posted on August 6th, 2008 by Web Freak under Whats going on ?Del.icio.us is no more. The social bookmarking site has relaunched at delicious.com, the simplified name just one of a number of changes to the Yahoo-owned service. The reason for the name and domain change is simple.
“We’ve seen a zillion different confusions and misspellings of ‘del.icio.us’ over the years (for example, ‘de.licio.us’, ‘del.icio.us.com’, and ‘del.licio.us’), so moving to delicious.com will make it easier for people to find the site and share it with their friends,” the Delicious Team explains on its blog.
The old del.icio.us domain and all its URLs will still work – redirecting to the new address.
Once there you’ll find a new look, faster site built on a new, more scalable infrastructure, and with an overhauled search that returns results in seconds rather than minutes. The redesign is intended to keep the “spirit” of the previous interface, but make it easier for new users to learn.

That’s funny, until you pointed it out, I hadn’t even noticed that the URL had changed! Like you said, the old one still works and since I have the buttons installed in my browser I never actually have type it – so I never noticed.
I don’t know what the consensus is but like the new design. It’s nice to see it freshened up and it’s a little bit cleaner now.
Now to go look at that massive list of bookmarking sites you posted…….
Yeah, check em out, they’re quite cool
hmm I like the old del.icio.us though.
Thanks for sharing this.. the old name was a ‘cool way’ to make a brandable site. I am sure with yahoo it will be a better site
del.icio.us
was more creative and kinda made it more interesting
But it was hard for noobs to understand !
I think it’s a good move. I would always forget where the dots are supposed to go!
@Tom, You’re right, its a very good move
